HIM. A Book Review

First of all, thank you Carey Heywood for allowing me to have an ARC of HIM. Yesss. Thank you so so much, dude, from the bottom-est of my heart.

Second of all, i received this e-ARC at aroung 5-ish AM here in the Philippines. I started reading my ARC at 7AM up to 2:30PM, just imagine. i skipped my breakfast and my lunch. haaaa! it's worth it though.

Okay. Let me tell you how I happen to fall in love with HIM. As I was scrolling my Facebook news feed,  I saw a post of a “Cover Reveal” from a fan page that talks about HIM. And there, I was stunned with the beautiful cover, and the beautiful man in it. It must be “HIM” that they’re talking about. I read the blurb and there, I just fell in love with the synopsis of the story. Then I get to use my “thick-faced ability” and I sent a message to Carey asking for and ARC because I’ll be damned if I’ll wait for the release date to read this. Yesss. Sorry for the words. Hehe! Anyways…

Sarah Miller hasn’t been home in seven years. She thought she could stay away forever. If it wasn’t for her big brother's wedding, that is. Part of her even feels silly for staying away this long. It's not like anyone even knew what happened. Well, except for him. That guy. The one she compared all others to. The one who set the bar so high no other guy after him could even compete. The one who made her feel like anything was possible. The one she thought she would never be good enough for. The one she spent the last seven years trying to forget. All she needs to do is make it through the next week without running into him.

As I was reading the first chapter, I was wondering how the story will go on.

Sarah being away from her family and friends for seven fcking years ain’t a joke. Yes, she hasn’t been in home for those long, long years. But why? Well because there’s this one thing or should I say one person in her past that makes her really afraid to go back home. She has been staying away from this person for as long as she can endure. That’s how tough Sarah Miller has become. She even sacrificed seeing her family because of this one person. HIM. Then an event that calls her for her presence that she can’t even refuse. Yes, that’s how important the event is. And I will leave you with that. You find out what happens next.

We all do have some trust issues. I know we all do. Sarah Miller was once broken hearted and to cope up from being in that state, she ran away. Maybe she has her own reasons why she did that and lasted for about 7 years. I admire how her character for the fact that she became independent and a successful career woman. She knows well her priorities that even she denies her best friend, Sawyer, from always pushing her to take a break from being a workaholic and have some time to herself especially on her love life. But how can she even “date” when there’s only one thing in her heart. HIM. Ever since, it has always been HIM.

In Sarah’s case, first love indeed never dies because no matter how hard she try to do her best to forget everything about HIM, she can’t. I knew that this is somewhat called “unfinished business” between the two of them.

I like how the how the story progress. I get the details I wanted, from how the very beginning of everything up to the present time of the story. I really can’t put it down because almost every chapter ends in a cliffhanger and it is a huge torture for me to pause for a long time when a chapter ends like that. I.SERIOUSLY.CANNOT.PUT.IT.DOWN.

I didn't get bored reading this novel. Maybe it’s all because I FEEL EACH CHARACTER.
I really am clueless of who is “HIM” until I was on the flashback part of the story. I somewhat got an idea who is HIM and it was confirmed when I got into that part. And I kinda knew it what will happen next. The only thing that keeps on dragging me to finish the story is the REASON BEHIND THE RUNAWAY OF SARAH. I keep on asking to myself “WHAT THE HELL IS HER REASON WHY SHE WOULD RUNAWAY AND NEVER COMES BACK FOR SEVEN YEARS?

And most especially, I liked how the story ends. Sarah’s long time issues have been resolved and I liked how she got her HEA or happy ever after. She deserves all those answers and clarifications that made her do those things in the past. She had her reasons for doing such thing and now she got the answers for her reasons.

She deserves her HEA.

I love the secondary characters. Especially Brian and Sawyer. Brian, being a responsible older brother to Sarah. He’s always been there to Sarah to support her and give guidance to her way back especially when it comes to Sarah having her very first relationship with his boyfriend. He is a good brother everyone wished for.

I admire Sawyer because she’s a strong woman who has been there for Sarah especially when the moment she ran away. Sarah found her sanctuary in Sawyer. She’s the best friend everyone would want for. Despite all the trials and problems each of them are facing, they are always and always will there for each other. And yesssssss, SAWYER DESERVES HER STORY, DUDE!

To Carey-lolo, you just did an amazing novel. You've beautifully written HIM. This is the first book by Carey Heywood that I have read. And I have no regrets that I chose this one to spend my free time. I know for sure that this book will be on the 5-star rating list. Trust me, I just know! Readers will sure love this book and LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS YOU AND I DO.

Congratulations Carey on this book and… thank you for telling me that there will be “HER” on November! *happy dancing* I want to know more about HIM and this time it’s his POV. You never fail dude! Thank you. Just thank you.

5 swoon worthy and heart warming STARS for this book!

I LOVE HIM. I JUST LOVE HIM.

Can I have Jared instead? :)

TANGLED. A Book Review

FINALLY, AFTER DAYS AND DAYS OF WAITING, I HAVE DREW EVANS! *happy dance*

This book is just my style! It really has it all! I am really a sucker for romance especially a romantic comedy? Yesss, count me in!

Reading a book from a guy’s POV is not so common for me, but I guess I am starting to love it because of this book! Not to mention what really is in the mind of guys especially when they’re having talks, well. their mind and mouth? priceless. I’ll just leave it to you; you read this book to unravel what I mean with that!

I was really hooked with this book, from the beginning to end, it doesn't get me bored. I was smiling from the start up to the end. And I mean I was grinning like crazy shit at around 2:30 AM, I can’t help it, and this book is just my style. Really, forgive me if I always tell you that.

Meeting Drew Evans. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. Yes, how can you resist those charms? Even me, i want to drop my panties too! LOL but then his weakness appears all of a sudden. He’ll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that’s not really true. But why does he tell us that?

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. But she’s not your ordinary girl. She’s tough and ENGAGED! *yes Drew, the girl is engaged*

How can this charming Drew Evans charm the tough gal Katherine Brooks? Could he ever win her heart or could she be tough enough to resist his charms?

For the guy who has never done relationships and for the girl who has been in a long term relationship, this will help Drew and Kate to face their attraction to each other. A playboy  who has never been in love and a woman who has ever been in love her whole life, they just make a perfect pair.

Opposites really do attract.

There’s always a fine line between love and hate. At the first part of the book, the both of them, Drew and Kate was like Tom and Jerry. They really hate each other because of the silly competition between in their work, “who is better on the two of us.”

And then there’s the spark… as what they say, you just to ignite the light and let it shine! The flames of attraction between these two is definitely undeniable, and there it goes. You know what happens next. ;)

This book is just a perfect combination of humor, love, romance, friendship, family and… don’t forget the mind blowing sex. Woot! I say that Kate is a lucky b*tch to experience sheet-clawing, toe-curling, and earth shattering s** with Drew

I SO ENVY YOU KATE!

For the author behind this wonderful book, congratulations on your debut novel Emma! It’s really a good book and it’s definitely one of my favorites. I swear! Thank you for being such a good friend to me on twitter, for replying my mentions, for favorite-ing them, for retweeting them! You are my new favorite author now! I SRSLY ADORE YOU! Thank you for creating DREW EVANS!

5 stars ain’t enough for how I actually love this book! I STILL CAN’T GET OVER IT YET!

*a little confession*
I was reading a book before this book was released, and so you know, everyone was also reading what I am reading, but when I saw that this was already released before the actual date, auuugh, I set aside my currently reading book just to start this Tangled. And it was really worth it!

I am addicted to Drew Evans. He’s just so… good looking and I want to eat him.  And I do not want a cure for this addiction.

Emilie

SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND. a book review.

Wow? What can I say? Where do I start? Okay let’s get this through.

First and foremost I would like to thank Ms. Monica Murphy for creating the Drew + Fable love story. It is indeed one of my favorite love stories. I am so glad I happen to read these books and I have no regrets in whatsoever. In fact I like… uh no… in fact, I LOVE these books, One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend.

Talking about second chances? What are worth the second chances? Life? Family? Friends? Enemies? Lover? Well as for me, I say, if it’s worth the second chance, then you must follow what your heart truly desires.

We all know Drew im-going-to-kick-him-in-the-balls-next-time-i-see-him Callahan screwed things up. He left Fable with his MARSHMALLOW note and that leaves the girl oh so broken-hearted. Yep. Confusions settles in. after what they shared on their one week getaway after all those what happened to them in Carmel, all of a sudden it all fades away, just like a bubble that bursts.

Enter the second book. Second Chance Boyfriend. Well. It’s about time to get all mushy and sweet. Drew Callahan asked Fable for her forgiveness and his another chance to redeem himself from all the shitty things that he has done to her on the first book.

MARSHMALLOW. That very word made Fable gone crazy. All the what if’s came to her mind. She hesitated at first to respond Drew’s text but worry kicks in. sure, she’s still concerned of the man who breaks her heart in to pieces. That’s what Drew does to Fable. She cannot resist him. She wants to hate him for abandoning her, for ignoring her, for leaving her on air, yet she’s still there when the man she loves needs some rescuing.

And… I leave you with that of what happens next… I don’t want to be such a spoiler.

DO MAGIC. ENTER HER HEART WITHOUT TOUCHING HER.

I really like how the story goes on. The story is just suits for my mood lately. Not so heavy that I end up crying so hard and not too light that I get bored so easily.

This talks all the second chances in life. And most of all second chances wouldn’t be possible without the forgiveness. Although some of the characters regret what they stupidly done that results in hurting another person, yet forgiveness and love still prevails.

Talking about characters, Drew Callahan. Well Drew is Drew. Say it all, he’s got all those descriptions a boy next door has. Don’t forget about being a football player? Okay, I think my panties just dropped. Although he’s quite perfect on the outside, he’s broken on the inside. He’s got  many problems that he’s facing and carrying and most of all he has some trust issues that’s why you can get it why he’s kinda withdrawn to someone.

Fable on the other hand is as broken as Drew. She has her personal problems too and family problems sit atop on the list. Taking care of her little brother while her mother is out there wasting so much of her life, that’s Fable’s life.

Owen is a good boy. Although he can be sometimes as rebellious as he is, yet he has a good heart. He still believes his mother will change for the betterment and that they will still become a one happy family. Talking about faith? Yep! That’s Owen!

Drew’s Dad. I admire how he accepts the truth after the bitchy Adele confessed to him. At fc*kin last, he already opened his eyes and saw the truth that Adele is only after his money. That she never loved him the way he loves her. I admire how he asks for Drew’s forgiveness. Despite how they were detached to one another before, he still cannot resist his son. Indeed BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER.

Adele. Well I just want to slap her, throw punches right to her face, pull her hair until nothing’s left and drag her to hell! Arrrgggghhhh! Good for her she killed herself. That pays for her bitchiness and arrrgggghhhh, sch a fc*kin pain in the arse.

Well all in all I like this story so much it hurts. I know im going to miss these two luvies in my life. Drew and Fable made such a great impact in my book junkie life. There’ll always be what we call “special” like the Drew+Fable valentine special or Christmas special or whatsoever special. From time to time, we can hear these love birds. And we can go all mushy and in love all over again. They’re indeed one of my favorite couples. In fact  I made them a special board on my pinterest site.

To Ms. Monica Murphy, thank you so much for bringing these two marshy mallows in the booklandia. I knew it that you will hit big this time. You’re definitely marshmallowy amazing. Haha marshmallowy? Really? Anyways.

Hats off to you! I will always be your fan. You can always count on me and I can never get tired of posting graphic photos on pinterest and dedicate it to you. I love yah that much! Im so glad you became my friend even though we haven’t seen in person, but I can feel the sincerity in it. Thank you so much!

Keep writing and I’ll keep reading<3

CONNECTED. a book review.

WHAT IF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME COULD HAPPEN TWICE?

two words. 10 letters. i'm gonna say it then you're mine.

RIVER WILDE

NOW I AM GONNA ADMIT THIS...

RIVER WILDE IS MY NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND.

oh my fc**ing goodness. let alone the gods and goddesses of rockstars so help me overcome this drowning over a Man with beanie, black v-neck shirt, leather jacket, dark pants, black boots. come on! who else can resist that look? yes, one look and it made your panties drop on the floor.

at the beginning part of the story, it took me quite some time to figure it out why River and Dahlia haven't talked that much during that night at the bar. well, that's what i figured out along the way during my book bonding with this book. i also felt... CONNECTED somehow. :)

i myself certainly do believe in what we call LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.

maybe others find it hard to believe, i also do believe in SOULMATES. yess!

River Wilde felt the spark immediately after he laid eyes on Dahl. but fate has its plans on how the two of them will find each other once again. *you yourself are going to figure it out how the become "re-CONNECTED" once again.

there's a part on the book where i myself wanted to enter and hit Dahl's head on the wall! how can she be so blinded with her past while working it on with her present and probably her future? i mean, come on! there's already the complete package laid on her hands and not to mention that that complete package is head over fcuking heels in love with her, then Dahl, she's still strongly attached to her past and it's quite eating her. please have some little sensitivity! ugh! (forgive me, i was just carried away with that part. LOL)

despite that part, i still love Dahl because she's a strong woman and i know she endured much more than enough with her past. she's strong that she opens her heart to another chapter of her life. she became happy and in love again with her present and her future, River Wilde.

"I never imagined I could feel so connected to anyone as much as I feel connected to you. I knew I loved you from the moment I saw you. How could I not? Loving you is as easy as breathing."

This book just left me breathless... not to mention another cliffhanger. really! a cliffhanger but nevertheless, it's just so fan-fcuking-tastic and abso-fcuking-lutely amazing. it's a one huge roller coaster ride of emotions. it made my heart ache, swell, swoon. it made me cry, laugh and most of all i can say that that this book is wonderfully and beautifully written. i say too much praises towards this but damn, they're true! <3

NOT TO MENTION THAT THIS BOOK HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH KELLAN KYLE AND JAKE WETHERS.

gaaaaawd, kill me now! 3 hot as hell rockstars in one book!? how can you handle that? ;)

to Miss Kim Karr, you're brilliant, fantastic, and absolutely amazing with your book. you made my mind go whirlwind! hats off for this wonderful book of yours! i can't wait for the sequel of this book.

AS WHAT I'VE TOLD YOU, I am totally and absolutely into River Wilde right now! OMG! He's just too good looking it hurts! Not to mention he's always wearing a beanie, my weakness! LOL i'm going to take my time writing a book review! Seriously i love love love your book Kim Karr! ❤

FIVE OOZING-WITH-SEX-APPEAL-AND-HOT-AS-HELL-AND-DELICIOUS-AS-FOOD-READY-TO-EAT-RIVER-WILDE STARS FOR THIS BRILLIANT BOOK!

HATS OFF TO YOU MISS KIM KARR AND CONGRATULATIONS! ❤❤❤

WHY DO I LOVE KATIE ASHLEY?

answer is...

Yes? Why do I love her anyway? Simple.  Oops, Is there always a reason to prove why? I just love her! Anyways, you guys want probably my reason. So here is it.

I love her because she’s brilliant in her work. Yep! She writes very well, her books are very much detailed and you can easily picture out what she intended to express towards her readers. That’s one of the reasons why I love her and her books. She never fail to make us smile with all those teasers and despite of those cliffhanger endings of one of her books. ;)

Another reason is that she’s very much loving to her fans. I myself didn't expect to be noticed by the one and only Katie Ashley. I mean who am I to be noticed? Like hello, she’s Katie, the author of NYT best selling books. Yet here I am, one of her friends in this social networking site. She always takes time to reply all of her fan girls despite her busy schedules.

Lastly, she’s BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. She’s beautiful inside because she remains down-to-earth despite she already bagged a NYT best selling title. She’s very approachable. She also appreciates the works of her fans for her. Those simple things are always and always appreciated by her. She’s true to her fans. That’s why I am so thankful and very much honored to be one of her friends. Forever I will be your fan girl!

KEEP WRITING AND I WILL KEEP READING.

I just simply love her. No more no less. <3

THE PROPOSAL. a book review.

“I love you so much it hurts. I ache for you in my soul. Please… I can’t live without you. I want to be with you every minute of every day. I want to marry you and make a life with you. I want to raise Noah and be a family together. Please… please say you want to be with me forever.”  -Aidan to Emma

Wow. Where should I start? I still can’t believe that my most loved, yes most LOVED and it’s more than LIKED, love story in my entire book junkie life already ended with a happily ever after.

Dear Miss Katie Ashley, if you happen to pass by review for your amazing book, THE PROPOSAL, I just wanted you to know that I did this book review, to quote it in a Filipino term "buwis-buhay” or to translate it in English, life risking. Yep, I will give all I’ve got just to make this book review because I really wanted to express what I fcuking feel towards it.
(Excuse me if I cuss)

What can I say, I am more than overwhelmed to read this book.
Let me start by telling how I got to read this book. A friend of mine suggested me to read The Proposition. I just say “nah, maybe some other time, I've still got lots of books here to read.” And at that time I was so hooked by FSOG. It goes on for about three months I guess? Well then, I tried Katie Ashley’s The Proposition one afternoon, well since it was then my OFF duty. And there my story continues. Hooked, so hooked with this love story.

Okay, let me get to my review. Gosh!

“SOMETIMES, IT TAKES FOR TWO PEOPLE TO BREAK UP, SO THEY CAN GROW UP. AND IT TAKES GROWING UP TO MAKE THE RELATIONSHIP WORK.”

Well this quote really does suits to the both of them. Emma and Aidan. Although they didn’t officially call themselves as boyfriend-girlfriend, still they have this understanding and that they agreed on wanting “more" from their so-called relationship. Well, what was their relationship anyways?

We all know deep down that Aidan already has feelings for Emma but well, coward-ness hits the shit out of him. He really is afraid to express what he felt for Emma because of his past. Well what brings Aidan to the present is because of his past. Guilt? YES! But you do realize and ask me why GUILT? Now I say, you read it and fall in love with the story.

The proposal is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Yes, roller coaster or would you rather compare to it to what? I can’t think of anything else. I really feel what Emma feels at the first part of the book. She’s broken hearted at the same time hates of what Aidan did to her days ago. She has to be strong for herself and for her little man, baby NOAH.

Thank goodness, there are people who will never ever leave by her side. Here comes her very best friend, CASEY, the other best friend CONNOR, and Aidan’s family headed by their old man, PATRICK. They were always behind her back and cheering up for her and supporting all the way.

Speaking of support system, enter the very charming, handsome, gorgeous, what else you call him Doctor Alpesh Nadeen, who happens to know Emma while Patrick was being brought to the ER because of mild cardiac problems. At first sight, he really charmed Emma to the point he is decided as in 100% decided to “woo” Emma.

And now, he is considered to be Aidan’s greatest rival in Emma’s heart. Pesh and Emma dated until they both realized they were still stuck on their pasts. Not yet ready on letting go. They both realized that after they kissed. Yep, they both kissed. And you are gonna find out what it feels after reading the part or I must say chapter, where they kissed. IT REALLY HURTS, YOU KNOW? IT HURTS!

Now, let’s get in to the best part, I can say that this chapter is purely and purely and PURELY LOVE.

CHAPTER

IS

AIDAN ALREADY DROPPED THE BOMB AND WHOLE-HEARTEDLY CONFESSED HIS TRUE AND TRUE-EST FEELINGS TO EMMA. (gosh! That part really did make me cry!)

Well, I can’t help myself, I will post some spoilers. *grins*

…AND IT’S UP FOR YOU TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. If I continue to give you spoilers, you might not read the book because I myself am willing. But because I love Katie Ashley, I’d rather not.

I know that all good things come to an end but I may add that it will never be forgotten. Katie Ashley’s books just made my book junkie life more colorful. I mean these books of her are definitely on my top ten favorite list. No doubt with that. It will take some time for me to get over with her books. Because every time I read some parts that struck me the most, I always ended up finishing the story, all over again. Yep. You read it right. That’s how I fall really hard with this book.

MY HEART SWELLS. ACHES. AND ACHES. AND ACHES. because this book is just so fcuking good!!!!

To miss Katie Ashley, thank you so much for creating these wonderful books. You deserve to have again another NYT Best Selling title. YOU REALLY DESERVE TO HAVE IT AGAIN.

I CAN SMELL ANOTHER...

5 stars are not enough to rate how much I love your book.
You did it again. And I am looking forward on the new books of yours. For sure, it’ll be another hit!

Thanks for being a nice friend on Facebook and for appreciating my simple works. I WILL BE FOREVER YOUR FAN! <3

Thank you thank you thank you
Katie Ashley!

Xoxo,

Emilie
